Christmas 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas with lots of snow. Got to spend time with Amy and Scott. 

Stephenville, TX - Visit Dad and Mom Rylaarsdam

We went to Stephenville to visit Mom and Dad Rylaarsdam at the beginning of December. We took them to a Dallas Stars game where they played the Colorado Avalanche. Unfortunately our Avalanche lost in the shoot out. The next day we went to visit Fossil Rim Animal Refuge. We had lots of fun and Aaron and I got to feed a giraffe out of our hand.

Last Day in Maui

Today was another day of doing nothing but sitting by the pool to get our last bit of tan before heading for home (where we won't see the sun again for several more months). It was very relaxing and a great way to end our vacation.

6th Day in Maui

Even when it's 90 outside in Hawaii, it's pretty cool to be in the hotel room watching our beloved Avalanche play the Bruins in the opening game of the '08-'09 season. GOOOOOO AVS!

5th Day in Maui

Today we did a whole lota nada. It was very relaxing spending time by the pool reading our books. This evening we went to the Sheraton Resort in Lahaina for a luau. The sunset was gorgeous and the kalua pig was delicious. We realized that we really didn't like poi. Don Ho lead the evening of entertainment (ok, not Don Ho, but he wanted to be). The show included dances from all the various Polynesian Islands. Aley liked the New Zealand and Samoan dances the best.

4th Day in Maui

Today Aaron and I went on the Pride of Maui snorkeling. It was a lot of fun and headed it out to Molokini Crater and then headed to Turtle Town over by Wailea. We got to see a lot of fish and one turtle. Enjoy the silly pictures.

3rd Day in Maui

Today we went on the Road to Hana. Below is the description on the highway, I personally think my Mom and Brother would love it! ;-) We had fun going 10 miles an hour and it was a long day. We loved the scenery but don't know if we will go on the drive again.

The Hāna Highway (also known as the Hana Road or Road To Hana) is the name given to the 68-mile long stretch of Hawaii State Highways 36 and 360 which connect the population center of Kahului with the town of Hāna in east Maui. On the east after Kalepa bridge Hana Highway continues to Kipahulu as Hawaii Highway 31 (Piilani Highway) first section of which is often (unofficially) also considered to be a part of Hāna Road. Although Hāna is only about 52 miles/84km from Kahului, a typical trip to Hāna takes about three hours, as the road is very winding, very narrow and passes over 59 bridges, 46 of which are only one-lane bridges, requiring oncoming traffic to yield and occasionally causing brief traffic jams if two vehicles meet head-on. There are approximately 620 curves along Highway 360 from just east of Kahului to Hana, virtually all of it through lush, tropical rainforest. Many of the concrete and steel bridges date back to 1910 and all but one are still in use.

2nd Day in Maui

Today we went out to the pool and rested and then went to Cheeseburger Island Style in Wailea. Good food and the birds tried to steal our fries. Head to Kobe teppanyaki restaurant for dinner. Had fun overall, going to road to Hana tomorrow.

Happy 6th Anniversary in Maui

Aaron and I arrived in Maui today for our 6th anniversary. Here are some fun pics of our first day where we flew to Hawaii and ate dinner at Ruth's Chris.

Built railing on grill area at house

Aaron and I rent a home in Semiahmoo from a cool lady that wanted a railing on the back portion of the house. Aaron and I built the railing and painted it this weekend. Gus and Lucy can now roam around while Aaron is out there grilling. As you can see they are happy

Moved to Bellingham

Aaron and I moved to Bellingham in June. We have found a home in Semiahmoo and love it a lot. Currently we are working on a railing for one of the backyards to block out the grilling area. We love it a lot and looking forward to Maui in October for our 6th anniversary.
